Our Leaders & Volunteers

Our program runs with two part-time staff and a pool of around 40 volunteers!

There are volunteers who help with fundraising, volunteers who spend time with the kids, and, hopefully, we will be able to establish a team of volunteers to help develop and maintain the property.

For convenience, we sometimes refer to the adults as ‘Leaders’, however, if you’ve read our model, you’ll know that they aren’t leaders – they are just adults, because we regard adults as being equal to children and young people, so there aren’t exactly leaders. But it is a helpful shorthand sometimes, so we hope you’ll understand!

'Leaders'

The quality of our retreats and our whole program depends on the quality of the relationships between all members of the program – adults to adults, adults to kids, and between the young people themselves.

Most of our adults and young people would agree that there is a sense of harmony and connection between all of us that is beautiful, and somewhat unexpected, given the very disrupted and chaotic circumstances that many of our young people find themselves in.

We are always on the lookout for special adults to become part of a support network for our fabulous kids. If you are a kind and thoughtful person who likes young people and would enjoy hanging out with some for a weekend and getting to know them; and you know how to treat children with great respect; and you think you might like to help out in our program, then please feel free to contact Mandy via our contact form here to have a chat about it.

Please note, as long as you are over 20 years of age, age is no barrier. We value people of ALL ages, and encourage a representation from all age groups at our retreats.

Volunteers

We can’t run without volunteers – we rely heavily on them for all sorts of things. Apart from helping to deliver our programs, they assist with our fundraising events, help with daily administrative tasks such as researching  information we need, or even helping to apply for the DA for our property development, writing grant applications for us etc. As mentioned, we also have a need for gardeners, fencers, help clearing bush, mowing and tidying our retreat site – the list goes on and on!

If you would like to help us out in any way, please send an email with your contact details to info@makeadifference.com.au and we can discuss our current volunteering opportunities.
